HWg-I/O Controller 2: Full serial port and I/O to Ethernet

I/O Controller 2 connects a RS-232 serial port and digital I/O to the Ethernet

I/O Controller 2 connects a full RS-232(485) serial port and digital I/O to the Ethernet. Two devices can be connected back-to-back to tunnel the serial port and I/O over the network.

Digital inputs are used to connect external relays or pushbuttons. Eight outputs can be connected to external relays. I/O can be controlled over the Web, Modbus/TCP, or Telnet NVT protocol.

The serial port can be accessed using the Telnet protocol, or redirected to a virtual serial port in Windows (e.g. COM 27). The full serial port supports all 9 signals and ensures correct operation.

As an interesting application, the serial port and digital I/O can be extended (“tunneled”) between two I/O Controller units over a LAN IP network. Other applications include connecting peripherals (RS232 barcode reader, pushbuttons, status indicators) to a central system in manufacturing environments.

230V Relays & RS-232 over Web and Telnet

Two 230V relays and a RS-232/485 serial port controlled over the Ethernet (Web, Telnet)

Two relay outputs capable of switching 230V, and a remote serial port over IP. Industrial version, mountable on a DIN rail.
The serial port is accessible via a Telnet protocol. Alternatively, it can be redirected to a virtual serial port in Windows (e.g. COM 27).
In a typical application, IP Relay is used to open a gate remotely over a LAN (230V relay output) and to connect a RFID card reader (RS-232).

HWg-PortBox 2: Ethernet to Serial

PortBox 2 PortBox2 supports full RS-232 serial port in hardware

PortBox2 is a RS-232 and RS485 serial port to Ethernet converter. PortBox2 contains a truly full RS-232 serial port (9 pins).

PortBox2 can be connected to a PC over LAN and the serial port can be accessed in Windows as a VSP (Virtual Serial Port), e.g. COM17. HW group offers a free HW VSP Multiport application that supports up to 100 remote serial ports on a single PC. It can be used for Windows server applications as well (works as a NT service).

Virtual Serial Port

HW VSP is a software driver that adds a virtual serial port (e.g. COM5) to the operating system and redirects the data from this port via a TCP/IP network to another hardware interface, which is specified by its IP address and port number. HW VSP3 is an updated version of HW VSP that adds support of NT Services and 64 bit Windows 7.
